Turn text into speech without a voice-platform contract

Text-to-speech across every voice model on one endpoint, billed per thousand characters in USDC. No seat licence, no monthly minimum, no API key.

Text to speech API: every voice model, one endpoint, no voice-platform contract

Send the text, a model and a voice; the audio comes back in the response. A voices endpoint on the same path lists what each model can speak with. The card prices a thousand characters of input on each model, which is the unit the payment layer meters — a longer text costs proportionally more, quoted before it is synthesised.

The flash-tier models are built for real-time voice agents and are the cheapest on the card; the higher tiers trade latency for expressiveness. Sound effects have their own endpoint and their own page.

How to call the TTS API — text, model, voice, and the voices endpoint

One endpoint, priced in dollars before it runs and settled in USDC. No API key and no account — the request pays for itself.

POST /api/v1/audio/speech
Host: blockrun.ai

Text to speech for voice agents: from an MCP host, a pipeline or the SDK

In Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, Cline and any other MCP host, this is the blockrun_speech tool of the BlockRun MCP server — the agent calls it like any other tool and the result comes back in the conversation. In OpenClaw, Codex and Hermes, ClawRouter exposes the same catalog. In your own code, the Python and TypeScript SDKs wrap the endpoint above with types; any HTTP client works too. Every harness, with its setup →

No account and no API key stand between an agent and the first call: the request is quoted in dollars and the agent's client pays it. A team that prefers keys gets one, with a monthly invoice.

Text to speech API vs ElevenLabs direct, OpenAI TTS, Google and Azure speech

The direct vendors — ElevenLabs, OpenAI's TTS endpoint, Google Cloud Text-to-Speech, Azure Speech — each sell their own voices behind their own account. ElevenLabs in particular is priced as a subscription with a monthly character allowance, which is the wrong shape for an agent that speaks a few hundred characters at unpredictable times and nothing for days.

This endpoint carries more than one vendor's voice models, priced per thousand characters of input, with no monthly allowance to buy ahead. A voices endpoint on the same path lists what each model can speak with, so a caller picks a model and a voice in the same request without a second integration.

The trade-off is honest: the direct vendor's console has features — voice cloning, dubbing, projects — that an API for speech synthesis does not need and this page does not offer. What is here is the synthesis, on every voice model at once, billed for the characters you actually send.

Text to speech API questions: voices, languages, latency, pricing

Which voice models does the text to speech API include?

Every voice model on the rate card above, from more than one vendor, through one endpoint. A voices endpoint on the same path lists the voices each model can speak with.

How is text to speech priced?

Per thousand characters of input text, at the rate shown for each voice model on the card, quoted in the 402 before the audio is synthesised. A longer text costs proportionally more; there is no monthly allowance.

Which languages does the TTS API support?

It varies by model. The multilingual voice models cover dozens of languages, and the catalog lists what each one supports; the voices endpoint says which voices speak which.

Is there a low-latency text to speech option for voice agents?

Yes. The flash-tier models are built for real-time voice agents — the lowest latency on the card and the cheapest per thousand characters — while the higher tiers trade latency for expressiveness.

What audio formats does the text to speech API return?

MP3 by default; opus, pcm and wav on request through response_format. The docs carry the sample-rate options per model.

Can I clone a voice through the API?

No. This endpoint synthesises speech from the voices each model already offers; voice cloning is a vendor console feature and is not part of the API here.

Text to speech API vs ElevenLabs direct, OpenAI TTS, Google or Azure?

The direct vendors sell their own voices behind their own account and, for ElevenLabs, a subscription allowance. This page sells more than one vendor's voice models per thousand characters with no account — the right shape for an agent that speaks unpredictably.

Do I need an ElevenLabs subscription to use these voices?

No. The voice models on the card are called through this endpoint and paid per request; there is no vendor account, no seat licence and no monthly minimum.

Can an AI voice agent call the TTS API without a human account?

Yes. Each request pays for itself, so a voice agent synthesises speech from its own balance with no signup and nothing to cancel.

Two ways to run this

Get an API key

Sign in, get a key, and call the same endpoints with usage billed to your account. For teams that want one invoice instead of one wallet.

Get an API key

Or let your agent pay per call, in USDC

No account, no API key. Three steps, and the last one is the request this page is about.

  1. 01
    Point your agent at BlockRun

Install ClawRouter, or add the BlockRun MCP server to Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or OpenClaw. Any OpenAI-compatible client works too — change the base URL, nothing else.

    curl -fsSL https://blockrun.ai/ClawRouter-update | bash
  2. 02
    Fund a wallet with USDC

Send USDC to a wallet on Base or Solana. There is no account to create and no API key to issue: the wallet is the account, and it pays per call.

  3. 03
    Call Text to Speech API

The first call returns HTTP 402 with the exact price, your agent signs it, and the answer comes back. Payment settles on-chain; nothing is charged if the call fails.

    POST /api/v1/audio/speech
    Host: blockrun.ai

How a call is paid: the request is answered with its exact dollar price (HTTP 402), the client pays that amount from its balance and resends, the call runs. No invoice afterwards on this door; an API key and a monthly invoice on the other. The mechanism →
